How to get rid of unwanted guests

*Give them a hint- Sometimes this is enough, but most of the time it will just be ignored. If so, you must be prepared to escalate hostilities.

*Stop the party- Do not provide any enjoyable activities. No ball, no shooting, no amateur theatricals. They will go else where in search of a good time.

*Go away yourself- Come up with an engagement of your own that takes you away from home. They can hardly expect to stay if you are not there.

Sensible Tip #1

How to Avoid Dancing with an Undesirable Partner

*Take advantage of the noise in the ballroom- Pretend not to hear him when he asks you to dance.

*Hide from him- It is undignified, but if he cannot see you, he cannot ask you to dance.

*Let him know that you are not interested-If you must dance with him, do not put yourself out to be charming. Remarks on the weather or the state of the roads are sufficient. You need not please him: in fact, if you insult him, he most likely will not ask you again.
